Natural rolled edges
When using wire rod as raw material, our products have natural rolled edges. These do neither have tensile stresses nor shear cracks in the surface layer zone. This especially has a positive effect if the material should be (strongly) bent and/or if the component (which is made of this material) will be exposed to dynamic stress.
Machined slit strip edge
We prefer metal-cutting of the slit strip edge for dimensions which cannot be produced of wire rod. This process is similar to the thread chasing process and has especially been developed for dimensions with a thickness exceeding 4 mm. The result of this machining is a technically crack-free edge with properties similar to those of a natural rolled edge.
Cold rounded slit strip edge
We also provide the technically less difficult version of the cold rounding of split strips for simple applications. We use specially split strip for this. The appearance of the edges can hardly be differentiated from natural rolled edges but the micro-cracks and tensile stresses (which are contained in the split strip) can still partially exist, however. This especially has a negative effect if the product should be bent and/or if the component (which is made of this material) will be exposed to dynamic stress.
